A very special player of my life…

As soon as the topic on sports comes to my mind emotions get added up to the words I write here. I feel pretty much connected to sports and players. On this leap day of the ongoing leap year I have been thinking a lot since morning for a topic to choose and write here. Obviously, the one that stricken me was the majestic win of Team India yesterday down under. But I was reluctant to put it here as I strongly felt that the teaming up was still missing in the Indian cricket team. Whatever, it was an amazing and quite unbelievable win!

Well, the credit for this topic of today’s post goes to my mom who called me and made me aware of the selection of one of my mom’s students and a very good friend of mine, to the Indian Kabaddi team which will participate in the Kabaddi world cup going to happen from tomorrow onwards at Patna, India. Her name is Naga Lakshmi.

She is one of the very few down to earth players whom I know personally. She is a dedicated player who has already seen many hiccups in her career both due to injuries and the infamous politics. I met her in Delhi way back in 2006, while I was doing my M.tech and she was undergoing training to participate in the SAP games representing Indian team. The team won a gold medal later. This time round she is once again going to wear the Indian jerkin in the women kabaddi world cup. I wish her and the team India all the very best.

Indeed she is the very special player of my life of all the sports persons I admire. I’m so proud to say that I know her for years now, almost fourteen years. I still remember the small girl who used to practice along with us for the school central zone competitions. Now, it takes no time for my eyes to get wet remembering those days.

I’m so thankful to her parents, coaches and everyone who encouraged her to become what she is today and eventually bringing this joyful time for me as well.

Once again I wish her and Indian team all the very best.

PS: My regular readers may get a taste of her achievements if you have read one of my recent posts on my school trip. You can find more about her here (sorry, only Telugu version available).

Blog… New Look!!

For me, my blog’s new look is appearing as if my face has been undergone a plastic surgery! It’s been almost four years that I’ve used the earlier template without a modification. I love the flowers in the header of the previous one. Many readers have said that they like them too. Somehow there has been an error occupied my template and eventually made it inconvenient to read the posts, especially the long ones. Well, I tried a lot to restore the template back in form but finally gave up with its hopelessness.

The new one has been just designed and applied through the blogger template designer option. Hope you like this one too. Personally, I’m still attached to the previous one but the way the error messed it up has made it easy for me to get adjusted to the new template so quickly.

New always inspires! I’m hopeful to get inspired and write more and more. Good day all.

Big shame but gainful!

Loss of a team may not always mean lacking of team spirit but loss of team spirit always mean a loss, a big loss for which probably no one of the team deserves to be forgiven.

Despite the big or I must say the worst recent losses of team India I along with many cricket followers thought they had failed as a team. Now it seems otherwise, as if they have actually failed to be a team. The world cup winning captain, Dhoni, and the dashing opener, Viru, have appeared as kids back in school with the way they have opened up the arguments in front of the world and that too away from home. Whatever, they have surely messed the already hell-like situation.

Win is always good but loss is the one which makes people go naked of their hearts. People call shots mostly when they lose not when they win. Calling shots, in an orderly manner kick starts the positive settlement of things. Doing the same thoughtlessly, further mixes up the already clutter. Loss of team India did disappoint me but the recent commentary of the skipper and the openers has done most of the damage to my interest. Now I feel I’m relived from watching the rest of the matches. Not that they would not win but that their win means nothing until they play as a team.

Dhoni must understand it now. He must have understood it earlier itself, having been known as the world’s best captain. The coolest captain of the world, I guess, has always wanted the remaining fourteen members of the team to be his juniors! So that they listen to him or whatever! After winning the T20 world cup he addressed the team as ‘my team’ and unpleasantly expressed his wish to have youngsters which would eventually ousted the seniors. Ex-players and their comments impacted him nicely and he again started being polite in his words to his seniors. Every time the team wins he praises the youngsters and on a loss he arrows the seniors. Somehow I find it odd, very odd. Forget how you and I find it, what about the seniors themselves would have thought about it?

Having been the crucial player of the team for almost two decades how come Sachin has over-the-series become a bad fielder? As much as I know Gambhir is always known as a good fielder. Even he has become bad along with his counter part, Sehwag! Of course I would agree the omission of Sehwag from the team but the reason should not have been quoted as low fielding standards! When Sachin got bat to his hands and dreamt of becoming a player for Indian team no one in India used to speak about fitness and fielding! How come can he be compared to the next and fitness-first generation youngsters?

Leave everything, where did the rotation go when Dhoni himself did not play well continuously for many matches? How the skipper did not show the responsibility in giving good wicket keeper to the team when he was not doing his job well in between? I think Dhoni is looking for a team which he can command. That’s highly impossible with the likes of Sachin and Sehwag, which is why he keeps on bringing new policies never known in Team India.

It has only been Sachin’s cup of tea for two decades to be able to cope up with the pressure and the unpredictable and almost unreachable Indian expectations. Now the topic of this great man’s retirement has become everyone’s cup of tea. People just say it like that! I don’t think they ever had taken important decisions about their own life over a cup of coffee or on lunch table. They just speak as if they have to. Who can tell them that no one ever need to or rather deserves to say it to the little master? He was asked to retire after 2007 world cup. He did come back and became once again the most wanted by the time of 2011 world cup which India proudly won. India is off the track now and its time for people once again to tell him that they only remember a player by his last innings, be it Sachin Tendulkar or anyone.

I would say Sachin has every right to decide on his retirement. At the same time the selection committee has every right to omit him. If the selection committee can not omit him that’s their problem, be it because of the respect it has for Sachin or be it for the lobbying trick. Whatever, he, as a player, is matured more than anyone on this earth to take decision about his very own career. Better encourage or be quiet. In the team game its never true that team has lost because of him.

The ex-players at times I feel as the big burden to have in the news papers and news channels. I’m not sure why they are given a mike every time after a loss. They say as if they are just right! They know the pain and still they make it tough for the players. I’m not sure why they tend to be like that.

Well, all in all, it’s a big shame once again over seas! But I seriously hope it would be gainful to the team and Indian cricket in the days to come. I hope BCCI comes in to action at least now and say shut up to the players who have been going for the mikes and media. Over and the above, enough surprisingly, the coach is out of the whole picture. If he is meant to be the same why he had been brought? To give away the otherwise saving bucks?

Hope things will come under control over the next couple of tournaments. I wish Yuvraj was healthy and around!

Beautiful will power…

Neither every day can be the same nor can every day be guessed. Life appears different at different times.

Sometimes it appears short as we feel the pleasure of it. Sometimes it appears long as we go through the tough times. Sometimes it appears undoubtedly beautiful as we enjoy the healthy relationships. Sometimes it appears utterly ugly as we get defeated by the circumstances. And so on!

The bottom line is that it’s neither simple nor tough. And the naked truth is it gives chances everyday to understand ourselves more, to get the awareness of our strengths and weaknesses. Not those strengths or weaknesses that we write in the resumes, rather those which are actually hidden and come out only in trouble times or otherwise tough times.

As the trouble passes by us we all try to hold our nerves on the first short. Some hold them tightly, some loose them up where as some prove that they are nerveless with their bold fighting spirit. Every one of us, I think, falls under each category at different instances in life while we face it as it comes. It’s just the matter of being that does all.

Either you call it magic or morale; every problem can be solved provided we keep the most important past of our human body, the brain, ready to face it out, be it anything. Will power is the most powerful power. It can work wonders provided it is aware of what its doing. It can rule the whole story of life when it believes in itself.

Let’s all work on our internal beauty, the will power, that can make us come out of tough times beautifully.

My school trip…

I believe the early morning breeze makes me a good writer. However, with the chilled breeze doing rounds here this night I hope I will brightly complete this post on my recent home trip.

On the occasion of our school’s silver jubilee celebrations, boys and girls central zone games were conducted last month. Rather than a home trip I must say I’d been on my school trip this time round. After my tenth standard this was the time I recorded no absence for the school activity. As my mom’s working still there I felt it was even better place to spend the holiday. She said the same as we did end up staying late evenings along with other teachers.

Its always a better feeling spending time with a good team. The team of teachers made mine and many others’ days memorable with their unity and team activity. For the first time ever I’d seen a dedicated team in government organizations. Being all women and few men the way the staff members made their own dreams possible was much appreciated by the chief guests. Back in school while I was participating in the tournaments I wanted to have our teachers around as I play but I could not get the chance then. I saw myself in some of the players. Not just me, many old students who had participated in central zone attended the function and recollected their best memories in a most memorable way.

Because of my mom’s long association with the school I’m known to many of my mom’s students. The same-pinch face of my mom and mine makes it further easy for them to recognize me, as a grown up girl in their view, who was once small with a bob-cut. Mom used to tell me in my childhood that people shall recognize her as my mom instead of recognizing me as her daughter. With her dedication and love towards her profession she herself made it almost impossible for me to live as per her words. Still today I’m known and recognized as her daughter. I love it. I just enjoy it a lot. Anyway, I hope one day I will become something that she will be recognized as my mom.

Farewell in school is probably the first painful moment we all would have faced. Growing years together at such an young age makes it special bond always. Time changes all possible things but the love we have towards our school days and the then friends grows further better with years. This was clear to me as I met many of my school friends once again and the feeling is inexpressible. You can not believe that years have already passed! Some of my friends brought their kids with them. Now that made it a perfect meet.

As I’m used to watching the all possible international matches on TV I thought I would not be able to see the same level of spirit in school players. I was wrong. Dedication is a dedication, sportive spirit is a sportive spirit, win is a win and loss is a loss, be it an international match or not! Human emotions make it up and they are always pure in sports. Some of the players and especially their P.E.Ts made the matches most watchable. It felt good to see some young and enthusiastic P.E.Ts.

Camp fire was one of the highlights. Boys were boys when girls danced! It felt the place was made full with energy by the students around there. Hungry remained as just another formality for most of us when the camp fire was on!

Being a player once who practiced in the same ground where these central zone games happened and now has become the international Kabaddi player, my good friend, Ms. Nagalakshmi received one of the best honors. Seeing her photo on the main banner made my eyes wet for a moment. My hearty congratulations to her!

Home team is undoubtedly the best supported. When they loss it the whole equation changes. The scintillations just stop. Nevertheless, pressure prevails most of the times. Our school Kabaddi team was one of the best title favorites and they just too one match to get ousted. It was an absolute heart break. Once again I told myself that It’s a painful feeling to lose before the home crowd after seeing the reddened eyes and swollen faces of the players after the loss. Loss is a loss anytime anywhere but the loss that’s the most unexpected is the most painful. Well, the good point is that there is no end to the sport and sportive spirit.

Clapping during the prize distribution ceremony at times becomes disaster as the audience preserves their energies to applaud the winners from the home team. However some frequent announcements from the prize list readers on clapping brings the situation under control. Same scenes I witnessed there.

After the successful completion of the games and function I saw a pleasant satisfaction in the eyes of every staff member of the school. I was very happy for them. Last but not the least, hats off to all of them; team work means much!

PS: Here is a special mention and thanks from all teachers to all old students who contributed directly or indirectly to this huge success.

Update… update…!!!

It’s been almost twenty days that I’d been here. Hope you guys are doing well. Many ups and downs of emotions I’d been through these three weeks and undoubtedly some of the best awakening messages I could ever get have been stricken me both harshly and soothingly.

I’d been on home trip or rather I must say I’d been on school trip during the calendar weeks three and four. Throughout my holiday I’d been the regular attendee to the silver jubilee celebrations of our school and the central zone games conducted in this regard. I will like to elaborate on this for sure. I’ll surely comeback on all such in my next posts.

More than physically I was mentally upset with my health last month. The moment I told myself that it was the right time to be tough, I started feeling better. And now I’m almost back to my form all again and I’m taking good care of my food habits. Never in the past I had the realization on being mentally tough would mean a lot. To be frank, I’d never seen myself so weak physically and mentally that I’d been during the last month, especially in the recent years of my adulthood. I spoke to myself and I’m happy that I could get through. Credit must also go to my parents, especially mom; of course my mentality is like listening to my own self could lead me to anything no matter how tough!

Well, I’ll post these matters in more details in the coming days. Breathtakingly hectic schedule is planned in the coming weeks but if I feel like writing I will post.

All friends who have been asking me on my updates and absence of posts at my blog, thank you so much for caring me. The feeling of remembrance refreshes, a lot.

At last, some smiles after Team India have won it today. But its very sure that Indian cricketers have lost it as of now on long partnerships and five day workout, not to forget, on pitches that are not made of Indian soil. I think and believe that Sachin will and should make it in Australia.

That’s it for now, friends.
