First and the foremost, I congratulate myself on this six hundredth post. When we can encourage ourselves, inspire ourselves, moralize ourselves, I think nothing wrong in congratulating ourselves!

Milestones almost every time prove that they are the real encouragement. They make us think more. They make us to want more. More than anything, they keep up the hope that they keep coming.

Every milestone,

Inscribes itself in one’s heart,

Inspires one with every thought,

Of achieving more attention,

Of demanding more of himself,

Of giving the best possible effort.

Milestone makes us think more not just on when we have arrived at it but also on how we have journeyed throughout. Good journey possesses an equally satisfying happiness irrespective of the outcome.

Now coming to the dedication part for this special post, I’m not very sure how it appears to the world. But I’ve finally decided to go with it. Read on.

I’ve recently read a book titled “Heartbreaks and dreams” – girls at IIT, a novel by Parul Mittal. Nothing great about the story but right through the read I emotionally connected myself to it. I mean, not to the story line itself but to the places covered in the story and of course some incidents too.

Its all about few girls and their love lives in IIT Delhi. As I’ve already said, its not a great story but the places the author kept on mentioning in the book made me get lost in the memories of my own in IIT Delhi along with my friends, especially the places like Kailash hostel, mess, public announcement system and of course the common room. During our final year of M.Tech, one of my Telugu friends, Sravanthi, was elected as house secretary. She had full authority to allocate the rooms for inmates. Somehow she could succeed in getting rooms on same floor and that too in a row for all members of our Telugu girls’ batch. Throughout the year we enjoyed our presence to full extent. Birthday parties, night outs, late night movie shows in rooms, arrangements for functions, project review dead lines extravaganza, placement preparation used to happen so regular and so enjoyable that none of us had ever expected it.

Even today, as I write this, all the pleasure we experienced in those days comes to my mind. I miss it; we all miss it in fact. I use to wonder if I ever go back to IIT hostel, how I would feel. Thoughts about my friends would fill me up. Well being of my friends would come to my mind. As I stand in the corridor I will think about their smiles and happiness they would be going through at that time except of one, she herself, Sravanthi, the house secy.

She is no more.

Back in IIT, in those days, we used to think that one day we all would meet again in our hostel with families and lots of smiles. But this will never happen as it is. We will miss her. We will surely miss her charming smile and dynamic will power.

I dedicate this post to her.

Love, the way I understand it…

It starts with liking first of all;

Turns to craziness at some point;

Continues as love happily ever after;

The point to be noted down here is, in all cases it may turn to craziness, but it may not continue as love!

When two people decide to stay together as life partners, the very moment they do not really understand what they are going to do with their future. The ‘I love you’ they convey to each other may not mean it’s fullest meaning.

It starts with liking first of all.

The natural side effect of teenage moulds the guys and girls with certain expectations on the qualities they would love to have in the person with whom they would have to live their married life. The moment they meet the person with such qualities, may not all qualities but at least more than the respective cut off fixed in their minds, they start feeling the presence of their ‘someone’. And soon they would like to have the person around for their life time. So, it is started!

They convey the same to the person. I’m cutting short the story from the other person’s point of view as it involves many dynamics to decide. Once the person agrees, its love the next moment!

Turns to craziness at some point;

Another natural side effect of love, more in it’s starting stage, is the wish to spend more and more time with each other, if possible in person or otherwise over a call. Now that kick starts the addiction. As they spend time together more, speak to each other more, they naturally get to know each other’s true self more, provided none lies. Lie, is an integral part of the process which makes the two one. Not that they lie about themselves, they lie for each other. They lie for love, for their partner. Sometimes, with some sexy lies, the situation becomes emotionally romantic.

How small ever the good news is,

It feels like celebrating.

How crazy ever the deep wish is,

It feels like fulfilling.

How far ever the lovely partner is,

It feels like reaching.

How difficult ever the situations is,

It feels like scintillating.

Well, as I said earlier in the post, not all pairs get through the craziness stage. Its not a small story to reason it out. Everyone have their choices. But one main reason, I suppose, I’d like to mention here. Some people want to continue having the craziness around throughout the relationship. Some want it till some extent and later practicality comes in to the picture for them. When two people with opposite mindset in this particular sense come together, after the craziness stage, they tend to dislike the happenings and in turn each other. On the other hand, two people with similar mindset continue their relationship with better liking for each other day after the day. By the way, in some cases, though the two are with different mind sets they stay together, compromise or whatever, they stick to their guns in terms of love.

Continues as love happily ever after;

There comes a stupendous yet serious transition stage. Not just the side effect but the intended and very much required understanding of life, goals and family moulds the pair into couple. The earlier days’ addiction becomes matured wish to support the partner. The earlier type of lies slowly dies out, though the process of lying continues based on situation! This time they say they lie for their family. Fair enough, as long as it does not back-stab!

Meeting may not matter much,

But the togetherness does.

Waiting may not matter much,

But the well being does.

Pampering may not matter much,

But the planning does.

Kissing may not matter much,

But the romance does.

The verbs or the nouns coming in the second lines of the above stanzas take the highest priority. The ones in the first lines do not die out but continue adding the freshness to the relationship time to time. More chances are that the lacking of highest priority items often ruins the relationship than not taking efforts to bring in freshness. People often complain that they are not being loved as much as they were during the start of the relationship. This happens because the craziness (of love) is mistaken or misunderstood as love and they did expect it to be there at every stage of love life.

That’s it from my side as of now on this topic.

Like, go crazy, love and keep it up! Life and love are beautiful. The moment they compete with each other, you can not ask for more!

New Year and the Natural Newness!

Hi friends, hope you all had a blasting or I must say ‘thundering’ New Year’s night.

Wishing you all a very happy, energetic and eventful new year!

In spite of it’s repetitiveness, New Year eve ignites us with all sorts of resolutions. How many of them come true will only be known by end of the year. But we do not get realized completely as much as it should have been, as the year end again engages us in pulling out the list of brand new resolutions for the coming year. That’s how it is and that’s why we enjoy the eve every time despite of the flopped resolutions.

‘Natural newness’ is the phrase rounding in my mind whole day. Thinking of doing this and that in this year, taking things in this and that way, have been occupying my mind and I hope and wish you do have the same sense of feelings. Whatever it is, one thing is for sure that what’s all happening is for good provided we determine to take out the good hidden in every happening.

Apart from what I want to keep to myself I’d like to tell you on what I look forward in this New Year. Nothing alien; some smiles, some tears, some moments of satisfaction, some challenges, some successes, some failures, some happiness and lots of strength and courage to withstand and can still breath through the odds. Too many? Sorry, can’t help it!

Once again, I wish you all a good start in 2012. Enjoy the new calendar week!

So, its time to recollect…!

The year has been longer I feel. Two reasons why.

One, on the last night of last December I didn’t experience the joy similar to what I used to, on the New Year’s night. As I’m in a mood to celebrate it this year I certainly recollect the joyous celebrations from far past. I feel its too long time in between!

And two, this has been an eventful year for me in all terms. I had to marvel my guns to estate the mixed outcomes. I love the learnings I earned. I thank myself for the tsunami posts I did as ‘take homes’ at my blog which would surely release me from writing them down all at one go!

Apart from what I want to keep to myself I’d like to pen down my memories month by month. Let me clarify to myself how my memory is!

January: I lost my very good but visiting habit of writing diary. In fact I wanted to turn it to my permanent hobby. I flopped with no efforts spent not to. It was an effortful month at work.

February: I made maiden efforts in accompanying my close friend’s wedding-shopping. With the cricket world cup, I put all my efforts in improving my writing skill once again on the name of cricket, my favorite pass time.

March: I experienced a never before joy and along with it the newness as my birthday this time was celebrated thrice, covering all friends I have in Pune. I missed it out on attending my best pal’s wedding and this is one of those very times I felt disappointed about my working life. Cricket world cup robbed half of my thoughts.

April: I was first on Facebook. I felt immensely blessed with the idea after getting in touch with my long lost friends. After being almost a devotee and a big supporter of the Indian cricket team, I watched the World Cup winning moments with eyes full of tears. I’d been on a joyful and memorable trip to Ellora caves with team.

May: Mom and dad were here in Pune with me. We’d been on a family trip to Ellora and Ajanta caves. I think the first of it’s kind in the recent past. Mom was with me throughout the month and needless to say how tasty my food had been and happy my heart had been.

June: For the first time in my professional life I had to farewell one of my very few good friends. Later I took no time to realize that life till then was different. I got promoted and uplifted in spirits along with.

July: I still feel one of my happiest days at work belongs to this month. With the one hundred and twenty fifth Wimbledon championships I registered myself as a full time Grand Slam follower. I started one of my best hobbies all over again, book reading.

August: Home trip kept me away from the internet but narrowed down the distance between me and many houses of relatives and friends. Throughout the last six months I had been on full learning process at work, in terms of both technical and professional. Once again I archived myself as a big supporter following the debacle of Team India in England.

September: As a blogger I must say it was a successful month. I challenged myself with a minimum of one post every day and I conquered it. Off the record, I had to do couple of posts on wrong calendar date though. Plane crash of the Ice Hockey team did sensitize me for days. US open and the Men’s singles finals made me love the game more. I was back on track with book reading.

October: For the first time ever in my life I had been a full time marriage attendee. I enjoyed the wedding work as well my blogging on every day’s events. One more time I proved my bad habit of eating unsafely as the day of my cousin’s marriage turned out to be the most uncomfortable day of the year with the stomach upset. Though I’m now not completely up to the mark with safe intake I definitely changed my eating attitude.

November: One of the toughest months I ever had in my professional life. I had to withstand the feeling of departing another good friend at work. I sustained until the farewell party, finally I broke down. Reading the biography of Steve Jobs helped me in understanding the importance of pursuing the passion as profession.

December: Another successful month of blogging as my interest in writing took new turn. I had a satisfying week at work with an unexpected hit of work I did which in turn brought the rarest chance of meeting some of the successful professionals. Not to miss, my mind these days has been covered with hell lot of thoughts that I suppose I never had to face earlier. Hope the things settle down over next couple of months.

So, this is it with the recollection for this year.

I’ll post my thoughts on what I look forward in 2012 later, maybe tomorrow.

# Sequel to “It’s Not About the Bike”

Good that Armstrong has decided to do this sequel. It does give us the idea on the aftermath battle of him with the sport, the doping allegations, his body, and for that matter the shadowing fear of getting the disease back, all again. Dream comeback do exhilarate the heart of the concerned, be it the sport or any other field. Often they do induce the doubts on the person’s ethical attitude by misinterpreting the power of the burning desire of the concerned as catching victory through unethical means. Interesting, as the sports persons, though healthy, use the drugs to enhance their performances, the people who are refreshed with their admirable comebacks after the gap turn out to be the real sufferers. After reading about the way random drug checks are done usually, one would not resist himself from protesting it though he could. Social media takes the front seat in naming or defaming anybody. When it comes to the celebrities, media always enjoys hundreds of eyes and ears. Not by luck but by his actions, Armstrong could successfully come out negative to the hell lot of blood samples that had been taken from his veins. How it actually feels to be the face helplessly going through such dangerous allegations, if proven kills the career, and could have been proven in any possible wrong way, has been narrated so realistically.

I was never aware of the cycle racing and what the sport was all about, how the teams where chosen, how the winner would happen! Thanks to the authors for showing courtesy on illiterates like me of the sport by explaining it enough. I used to imagine the series of cycles and the cyclists racing ahead, but the team work and the dependency of the winner on his own team is far away different from my imagination or understanding. In most of the team games, as I know it, team members help as one or two outperform in a game but the story here with this sport is entirely different. Team members sacrifice to make one person, the lead, successful and that’s the spirit! Or, there is no need to get excited so much, it’s the way the sport is and so as the players would have moulded themselves. Nevertheless, I can’t resist myself from accepting it as the greatness of the sportive spirit. But at the same time I’m not very sure of the other side of the story what and how the supporters in a team get or feel of what they are supposed to do. I’ll like to know if any note on this topic appears in future.

Well, its neither a small thing nor an event which we get to see happening every now and then that someone fights back from the death bed to win five consecutive titles of the prominent Tour the France and an Olympic medal as well. Armstrong has done it as if its not a big deal at all. Hats off to his strong will power and his team’s, mom’s and family’s sacrifices!

Book: It’s Not About the Bike – My Journey Back to Life

Lance Armstrong, the man who has survived the cancer with the help of doctors and the killer chemo cycles at his age of just 25, has wonderfully explained the tale of his journey back to life in his autobiography. For all his adventurous and miraculous come back, Armstrong prefers the science and technology, will power, to the spirituality. Not that it matches with my point of view, but the way he has justified it convinced me enough.

Having been a teenage-mother, Armstrong’s mom has been through it enough to have her baby. Ever since his birth they both have grown up together, one as a friendly mom and the other as her lover-boy son. He says, he never had to lie his mom. That’s how she nurtured him right since the beginning and that’s how they both have grown up for each other.

Once the cancer was diagnosed it was the friends of him who did it all first of all. However, no matter how the world takes care of you, a mom is a mom and her love is the strongest. His decision to get operated at one of the two preferred hospitals was explained interestingly. Hardly having had any chances to live back he and his team handled the situation incredibly. Now I know, its important to be educated about the disease with which one is supposed to battle his heart out.

My goodness, I did never care to know what chemotherapy was about! So did I for the cycle racing and the famous Tour De France. I read somewhere, to get familiar with anything, read a minimum of three books but I guess Lance Armstrong’s this book has made me enough contented of these topics with just one read. And on the sponsorships, I’m now sure better than before of how sponsors pay for the legs and hands of the players.

Going through the pages one would feel the never deniable dependency of human life on friends, parents and most importantly the life partner. Either to go for it or to hit a comeback!

Mr and Mrs Armstrong’s married life, their decision to go with the IV treatments, the way his best half had lectured him ensuring he was not being hurt, which ultimately brought him back to racing track with full determination, have been written so amazingly that you would not mind giving the whole story a single sitting to be done with.

All in all an interesting, inspiring and intellectual read it was. Even since i’m back in with touch with books I’ve been going through the awesomeness. I’m happy for the same.

At any phase of your life, either you yourself or your relatives/friends have to face a life threatening disease, and feel completely low on coming back to life, I recommend you to get or gift this book. I know, book reading, especially amidst such horrifying circumstances, is not practically possible always. So, better read it now and be prepared to face it, be it any worst! Not a bad idea either!

Big bash, only if the Indian young guns fire!

So, it seems all set for the Boxing Day test to begin in the cricket grounds of Melbourne, Australia, so as the Indian and Australian cricket fans too. The cricketing world is looking at this series too. Some want the Indians to outplay the Aussies. Few others want to continue watching the downfall of the Australian cricket. However, everyone knows about the gutsy Australians comebacks does not matter from which depth of misery they have to head from.

On the other hand, its well known how easily the Team India can spoil it’s own fate on the day of not it’s. Comebacks are not much practiced and so as the aggressive attacks by the way. Well, with the so called good mix of experienced and the young Indian players, it is expected from this particular Indian team this time that this series must be productive not just in terms of entertainment but also the success and of course some pictures of the team with the glittering trophy at the end.

Big contest is on the cards no doubt and why not when the anticipation is such a huge. But is the Indian team really set to satisfy the mere performance requirements to win the series? I don’t think so. Injuries are obviously the show stoppers this time too as if the injuries are being practiced more than the game itself. One bowler walks out and the speculation starts on the Indian bowling attack! Is this the team that is expected to do much? I seriously doubt, especially when it comes to the bowling department.

Batting is one of the strengths of the Indian side but many agree if I have to say that it’s the only strength India shall march on this time. Big names often leave big miseries. It happened in the past enough times adding strength to this argument. Nevertheless, with the swashbuckling batting order, India is hottest favorite. But if the Indian batting performance has to appear sexy, young Indian players shall fire like never before. If the same old trio will have to keep on saving it for India like before, frankly, it’d be no big bash.

As the Indian team is ready to fire it’s young guns, it seems Team Australia is all set to launch it’s aged missiles. Not just twice or thrice the average age of the Australian dressing room is so high. As the man in Indian young player moulds in the tours with the team, a mere Australian debutant would have already gone ahead and experienced the manliness in the domestic cricket tournaments. Whatever, when its time to say get set go, age does not matter so as the manliness, only the player inside shall pop out. Be it a young or old player, once the ball and bat have to kiss each other, it’s the game that experiences the orgasm.

All in all, this time round, there is a very fair and good chance for Team India to clinch the trophy. As always, I hope to have fun watching this tournament. No more monkey-gates are envisioned but you never know it enough when the emotions take over on the field. Let’s hope for the best bash.

Movie: “26/11” – Terrorist is made not born

Out of the box is what often discouraged at the start, but once it gets clicked it pioneers the trend. Ram Gopal Varma is one of those directors who think out of the box and gets good marks for his direction and of course all the bad marks possible with his so called unnecessary frankness with the media.

I’m not very sure in which way a movie on the 26/11 spoils the show for the Indian Military or the Anti-terrorist squad. But if its clean from this particular point of view, its worth making a movie. A lot suffered. Emotions of the suffered have been just imagined and felt but never seen and felt by any one of us who just watched the live telecast. Who of us could possibly understand what the major, Late Mr. Sandeep Unnikrishnan, a newly married man a week back by then, would have been through at the back of his mind while pushing himself to take the bullets of the terrorists? I hope the movie could be the best way to remember him once again and more importantly to understand his greatest sacrifice!

Some people have their point on money making of the RGV with the controversies, as if they wouldn’t mind making money given the chance. Even if they mind, money making is not the problem at all. Some make history, some make love and some make money!

Besides showing the Indian sufferers I hope RGV also puts the causalities/helplessness that spurred the terrorists including Kasab to choose the path they had chosen.

Human brain knows what it is taught. Its just another myth that the children of the good cultured family possess the same good culture. If anybody wants to prove its not just a myth, surrender a child from the so called cultured family on his birth to the terrorist training center and after 25 years show to the world he is not a terrorist! It’s an open challenge.

Terrorist is made not born.

It is the heights of misunderstanding the adjective. Some have understood that the word ‘Dirty’ refers to the picture itself whereas some have felt it refers to the dirtiness of the professional skin-show. I strongly believe both are unfortunately wrong. Unfortunate, because their understanding has masked their eyes and heart in turn, from appreciating the guts of the director and of course the artist as Silk, Vidya Balan.

When something is shown out there, at least some portion of it must have been true! Or otherwise, most of it is true to the point and the rich Masala is not yet shown! Anything is possible with the commercialization the movie industry has been through. Real life stories have been the hot cakes of these years not just to bring the audience but also to bring the commercial success along with. The shit is, they do post the disclaimer at the start that the characters are fictitious! Safe side taken and you are free to show off, anything.

I guess sensor cuts have become the way the lab exams happen in corporate colleges. Beer and beef to the examiner, full marks to the institution and of course a big zero to the students in concepts.

I liked the movie over all. Vidya has undoubtedly given one of her best performances so far. Award deserving acting provided no other competition comes in rest of the season. The way she has surrendered herself to the character amused me. Screen play has touched deep within awakening the need to understand the voice of the women who do the skin-show for the advantage of themselves obviously, but never to forget, for the advantage of the movies and the producers/commercialization. Who suffer at the end of the day, those who have encouraged them for the skin-show or the actresses themselves? It is crystal clear after seeing the Silk on her death bed!

Now, is there any way to stop the skin-show in the Indian film industry? Simple, put the sensor cuts accordingly. But will that stop people from watching the white skinned Babes? A big question and the answer is a big NO.

The irony is here. Anyone is named stubborn, only after his decisions are turned successful. Otherwise, doesn’t matter how confident or correct he is, when he fails, he is never named the same.

Not just the stubbornness, it happens the same with many other traits by which people are typically categorized.

External factors just don’t affect the results; they affect the way you are seen and understood too. The less one thinks of being seen or understood, the more he becomes successful. But again, ironically, the more one thinks of being seen or understood, often, the more he appears successful.

Remembered are those who are seen successful but not those who knew they were successful. A wish to be remembered plays the whole game. It influences the choice we make of becoming or appearing successful.

Book Reading… Got my touch back! #2

After college, as we just enter the professional life, all of a sudden, friends become colleagues. How many of the colleagues become friends, depends on many factors! A complete new environment welcomes you which you are neither taught in college nor have experienced any where else.

Experience is the best teacher. But you can not wait till you get experienced. One has to start learning from others’ experiences, especially not to get played by the dirty games. Now, experiences are not the bread and butter that all can afford sharing. In fact, all can afford but some just don’t. They have their own rules and they certainly don’t mind at whom cost.

That’s when I started searching for the life histories of the successful professionals. Books on managerial skills written by the ex-CEOs, psychiatrists etc interested me more. As I’ve started reading them I’m encouraged. I’m warned too of the back stage drama that continuously goes on without your notice.

Reading biographies or auto biographies may not give you exact idea on how you have to handle your own situations; it does inculcate the thought strong enough that you can face it too, its not happening for the first time and you are definitely not the first or only victim. My dad use to day, when someone else can face it we can face it too, it shall not be seen as a big deal. If you are in the same boat I suggest you to know the life histories of the successful people. Most of what you feel you are facing would already have been faced and fought out for success.

Woman factor destroys the party for ladies in the professional life. Never mind how talented, women are hurdled the same by you know who! Its damn important for women to be strong and ready to face the worst. How worse it could be is what I wanted to know. This is the reason why I bought some life histories of women who were successful in their careers. It is different from career to career, situations will be different, but you know what, they are hurdled the same way, by the same species.

Its also important to keep yourselves updated with the new entries to the marker and the business/economy news. I’m still yet to improve my reading interest in this area.

Personal life shall be given equal importance as that of professional life. Or, at times, it shall be given more importance too. As you deal the people in professional life with brain you deal the people in personal life with heart, with emotions. When heart is involved nothing else can win the race. I’ve started reading the books on social life, human relationships, attitudes etc.

Psychology interests me since starting. Its pleasure reading such books as they depict the real life examples and once again we get to know we are not the first or only victims. Now, this moralizes the whole story and generates/upgrades the perspective towards life.

So, this is how it is till now. All in all I’m very happy that I got my ever favorite touch back. I hope and determine to continue. I’ll keep you guys updating with the book reviews and thoughts. See you around.

I’ve grown up watching my dad reading some or the other book during his free time. Observing what we’ve grown up is what we tend to be, is once again proved right as far as I’m concerned.

Dad used to suggest me to read books. During my childhood I used to follow him very seriously, only on Sundays though. Being only child to my parents I didn’t have anyone to play with at home, especially in the afternoons. This was the time I used to spend for reading. I used to choose books which had many colorful pictures. I remember reading a book on the universe and satellites, which was a hard-bound one with exciting images of the astronauts, solar system, galaxies etc. In spite of reading it hundreds of times I never imagined myself traveling in space! I’m still unaware why so!

During B.Tech…

My interest towards reading books has grown up along with me. Due to the academic workouts I couldn’t continue it quite well. I was infected with chicken-pox in my B.Tech first year. I had to miss some sports competitions at college hostel which I knew I would win. I was upset. Then my mom gifted me an inspirational (in Telugu). It was almost after four years I read a nonacademic book. And then started my journey back to reading books!

I used to read self-help books a lot; probably, they are the reason behind the philosophical/inspirational touch in my posts here. My dad used to gift me books. I loved the way he chose books for me as per my necessity. He gave me a book “Dictionary of Technical Terms” during my engineering.

Mom, dad and I used to visit the International Book Fair at Vijayawada (a city in Andhra Pradesh, India). We used to carry home bags of books, some for the school libraries and some for our library at home. In the final year of my B.Tech I started reading books on group discussions, body language for interviews etc. Those tips have really helped me in clearing most of the interviews I’ve attended so far.

I love reading Sydney Sheldon novels. After seeing the way the female characters were shown enforced in the novels I thought the author was a lady! Oops, but he was a man.

During M.Tech…

M.Tech at IIT gives you no time for extra-curricular activities other than downloading and watching movies!

I lost my reading-touch for almost a year. Finally, on one fine day, I had been to the famous Pragathi Maidan, to visit an international book fair. I got confused what to buy and what not to after seeing the whole brand new books in the market. Stipend was no good in inspiring to buy many books. Somehow I managed and selected few. TV room at IIT was my favorite place to read. With my craziness towards cricket I used to wake up early in the morning to watch the matches (series with Australia etc), and used to have book in one hand and the remote in other. You don’t have much competition for remote other than for the serials in the night.

“Emotional Intelligence” was the first ever book I remember stopping in the middle as I could not continue it further. It was far beyond my understanding of human brain! I will some day catch it up again. “Chetan Bhagat” was the first India novelist I read. My poor interest in reading Indian authors was the culprit. “Five point someone” was the novel that incepted a thought in me “Why don’t I write a book myself?”!! This though was the reason why this “Being Pramoda…” blog started. No, that was the inspiration. Since then I love writing too.

By the way, “Three Mistakes of My Life” was the second and the last one so far which I could not continue reading, definitely not for the same good reason I mentioned above! Hope you understand!

After college…

As I’ve started my professional life, I’ve got a whole new perspective towards book-reading. I will let you know about it in the next and the final part of this post. I will let you know on how I’ve become versatile in choosing books and how I started taking help of books in planning my career and personality. I think this post is already enough long! And the main reason is I’m rushing to watch a movie (The Dirty Picture).

Book: “Steve Jobs” (Biography)

Every time I read a biography I use to feel contented of the highly inspiring qualities of the person whom the book is written about. Never could I get to know the other side of the person into as much of depth as I could get in this book about the legendry Steve Jobs. The first view of mine off this book is the frankness the author, Isaacson, has put into. It always feels good to get a frank feedback about yourself; I felt almost the same goodness while reading the book, because I was reading my choice and it was admirably expressed.

If it would be a nice read for the entrepreneurs it’s the must read for the entrepreneurs-to-be. Getting to know how the circumstances mainly have helped Jobs to become the Jobs has made me positive enough to face in case of such. Nevertheless, may others would have been surrounded by same or similar circumstances but Jobs is just the one who has invented the new game! Well, circumstances do matter, a lot in fact, but not to an extent that they stand as a sole reason for a person’s success/failure. If one has the aim from within the external issues die out one after the other.

The way Jobs could turn his turmoil into his turn around during the days of his separation with Apple is an absolute eye-opener for all those, who are exactly in the same situation and feels ‘this is it’. Many things stay in store for you and me. We just need to walk the extra mile before becoming comfortable on the carpet. His emotions, aim to come back and the determination to make something new have been explained so dearly. Miseries often bring out the best of a person and when a person from the middle of the miserable ocean comes out with flying colors that must be an amazing experience.

Its written in the book that Jobs had a habit of ignoring the things which he would not like to feel their existence in his very own life. He could get through the tough days of his cancer diagnostics just because of his this quality. Well of course that later would ruin him. One line which he used to tell to his employees, i.e. keep it simple, has made me wonder how the simplicity could produce such wonderful products from Apple which every time made scintillating break-through in the industry of computers, music and electronics.

560 odd pages is the book; the one line without mentioning which I can not end this post is the one said by Mr. Jobs during his last days, when your life is ending you have no reason why you do not want to do what your heart says (in my words). Well, its easy to say “follow your heart” but no need to mention how difficult it is to turn it into action. Jobs wanted his children to know why their father was not always there for them. This is the same reason why he had asked Isaacson to write his biography after his diagnosis to cancer. Fair enough and I loved it.

What a great inventor of this century! Earlier days, it used to be the person who would invent but these days its the turn of the teams. Leading the teams always is a challenge. Hats off to Jobs not just for the brain and braveness he had but the way he handled people, teams to make the pioneering products. “The Steve Jobs Way” a book on his leadership way is in pipe line of my next-to-go. I paused reading this book till I complete reading his biography. I think its the best time now for me to go ahead with it.

Facing the fact of departing…

People come and go. Memories remain. Everyone we meet we know we have to depart, one day or the other!

Philosophy apart, life is full of gatherings. Friends contribute to major part of it. Be it about roaming together or helping each other, friends, very few real ones though, fill the moments. Moments become memories the next moment. Memories live long.

Though we know one day we need to say the goodbye word, we spend days together enjoying the colors unconscious about the upcoming departing time.

We share, we live, we laugh, we play, we gossip, we fight, we patch-up, we enjoy, with friends.

As the outcome of all the above we get closer to some. Close friends we become.

The day finally we know we need to depart for now is the day we start facing and living the fact of departing someone, close one. Its not easy to cope up. Nor it’s the fun game.

Memories of the best past keep lingering no mater where you are. Feeling of missing doing the otherwise all crazy things pop up and don’t let us take control back. Facing the fact makes us realize many facts deep from within.

Loving someone and being lovingly with someone are two different things, different feelings. Don’t infer the same from these two. You can love very few, parents, boy friend/girl friend, best friend etc. But at the same time you can be lovingly with many including those whom you admire, whom you take as an inspiration, with whom your time passes nicely/friendly etc.

One point here, ironically, when the people you love commit some mistake you may at times take it seriously and wrap them up; and when the people with whom you be lovingly commit the similar mistake you give helping hand in rising them up from the deep displeasure. On the contrary, in case of some other mistakes, you can easily forgive the ones whom you love, but can not simply go ahead easily with those whom you otherwise are lovingly.

Mistake or misunderstanding, whatever, it makes us think differently for person to person, incident to incident. Nothing wrong with such! Never mind if you can settle it up with your best friend for a mistake/misunderstanding and can not do the same easily with your boy friend/girl friend for similar mistake/misunderstanding. These two persons are two different entities with two different expectations from you. All that matters most of the times is the commodity called expectations. They can not be sacrificed, in fact they be there no matter what. They just frame up themselves deep within.

I suggest, you try to unravel such cases by digging deeply inside your own expectations and how they have been framed up. Most importantly, understand if you have ever communicated your expectations to your friend/partner. If you haven’t, share the mistake. If you have, try to solve it out and talk it out with a positive outlook and a hope to resolve. Never go after the culprit rudely as in case of most of the disputes there’s the involvement of two people.

Don’t confuse yourselves by asking the questions such as, “Why I can not take it easy with my partner as I can do it with my friend?” or “vice versa”. At times it ultimately leads to the grand question, “Do I love him/her really? Is this all love?”

No, never enter that mode. If it has happened with you, or happening with you or would happen with you, please be informed that its one of the quite common happenings across the earth. Don’t ruin your relationships with confusion of thoughts.

Relationships shall be made or broken with clear understanding but not without it.

PS: I’ve seen many couples/friends who are worried with such incidents/feelings between them. I hope you may find this helpful when you have to face it.

It seems two crazy moments have been the most awaited these days, Aishwarya’s delivery and Sachin’s hundredth century. By saying this I’m not ignoring any other most important news. Please don’t get me wrong. News is no longer just the news when it comes to Bollywood or Cricket! So addicted all Indians are made, by you know who. News coverage that has been done on these two topics will surely make the Olympics news coverage feel shy!

Well, the first moment is all done with the entry of the Beti B. Now it’s the turn of the little master. There is a slight confusion, if it’s the turn of Sachin to create the news on 100^th century or it’s the turn of media and fans to ruin him by putting all the pressure of expectations. It was said that he was under pressure like never before while making his 50^th ton in tests. Now again it is being said that he is again under tremendous pressure like never before for the next century to complete a century of such to become the only man on earth to do so in the world cricket. Whatever, Sachin is used to all such. He has always proved himself, pressure did matter but not to an extent to make him lose it!

I too wish this man to achieve the feet soon. My heart says he will make it in the series with Australia in Australia! Let’s see. Just in case, he does accomplish it here in India at Wankhade, Indians will have something more to celebrate!

My First ever ‘blogger’ shock

What if someday I wake up to my laptop screen showing “Being Pramoda, blog not found/ deleted”? Many times I got this thought for which I could never get one answer.

Finally, today I witnessed it appearing on my lapi screen, in the evening though. I didn’t not panic; I was just collapsed for a few seconds. For the first time I hated my Tata Photon+ for not being even faster while the blogger dash board was getting reloaded. After a fearful wait I got to know that my blog was safe!

Actually, it seems there has been a google security check. As I saw the “blogger not found” page in Mozilla, immediately I tried to open it in the Internet Explorer. That’s when I was asked to enter my mobile number. Soon I entered the number a message popped up in my mobile as security code. I was asked to enter the code after which my original blogger dashboard appeared to my relief with all of my blogs. Great relief!

All in all it’s the first shock from blogger, in fact from google. Shockingly shocking;

Well, I just thought I would share this incident with you. In case you are asked to enter your mobile number, enter the right number to get the security code. Don’t panic.

Baby B, KBC… Bachchans have bagged it!

The so called royal family of the Bollywood has been under major media coverage right since their daughter-in-law, Mrs. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, has been announced pregnant. Answering all those who claimed that the young Bachchan couple had undergone a treatment to welcome a baby boy, a baby girl has arrived in, bringing all emotions of her father, the otherwise not so expressive, Abhishek Bachchan. No, I’m not saying that those claimed it were wrong or the couple didn’t undergo the treatment. Just that these days, being one among the crowd, you can not say it with enough confidence!

Heartiest congratulations to the couple! Welcome New B. I along with many Indians seriously hope that she hasn’t gone with her father! What Abhishek Bachchan said interested me. “Girl is more close to her father; hence I wanted it to be a baby girl”. May or may not be, but I wish him all the closeness with his today’s little angel.

India is India, even for the media coverage of the innumerable numerologists popping in and saying what the girl child would be, what her lucky number would be! Number could normally mean anything but the numerology, to the believers, only indicates all (good) going to happen, number being the biggest proof as the stars sprinkle. Someone said in the morning news, the baby B would be a creative person! How creative he/she who said it must have been! Come on, creativity lies in every person in either of the corners of his thinking. It comes out as required and more importantly as recognized. Media coverage to this would lead to another betting game, where the one which is already on cards is still not packed up!

As I anyway have mentioned about the Bachchans I would like to go on and share my opinion on the KBC show. As the show named, become a millionaire over the night, doesn’t matter if every show adds few C’s to the already full pocket of the Anchor, the Bachchan Senior!

KBC, the way of life, is the funniest caption I’ve seen in the recent times! Let me know if you have seen something more.

Good that the show ends this week. Proving the starting right the show has also ended on emotional melodrama. Earlier episodes of the show did serve the purpose of giving money to the selected participants and loads of emotional hi-drama to the audience. Well, I admire the Amitabh’s anchoring, except the mandated emotions he has to show at times. As I write this I’m watching a participant utilizing a life line “phone a friend”. No surprise, I’ve seen very few giving answers through this life line and counting the right answers out of them would not take many fingers.

I feel, the KBC team must have been brought under pressure by the all other reality shows which have been cashing upon the emotions of the participants and not to forget, their parents, than that of the talent which they quote that they look for. Anyway, recent episodes of KBC have been appearing relatively good. The ultimate is the one featuring the person, Mr. Susheel Kumar, winning the show’s maximum price money. With the cut of 40 % entertainment tax I hope it still satisfies the winner. Congratulations to the winners!

One last thing, I hope I have many with me to say that they too haven’t understood the Audience Jackpot question if its live or how!

It looks as if the Bachchans have bagged the past few weeks! However, no one can bet that it can’t get better than this. As long as the celebrities survive through the wide hearts of their fans, you never know!

Modern Age Childhood!

This post is a special dedication to the children, on children’s’ day. First of all, belated children’s day wishes to all the concerned.

** For Non Indian readers: 14th November is celebrated as children’s day in India. It’s the birth date of the Independent India’s first Prime Minister, Mr. Jawaharlal Nehru. He liked children very much and this day is a remembrance of his love towards them **

I happened to go by a school during its closure at the end of the day. The road in front of the school was jam packed with vehicles. Some of them were school busses and most of the rest were the cars/bikes of the parents who had been waiting to pick their children from school.

An interesting observation went through my mind while I was witnessing the whole scene being one among the souls out there.

Apart from some students who were probably at an age of around fourteen, of 10th standard, all others were rushing out of the school with energetic smiles as if they had been sent out on a beach to play with the golden glittering evening waves! The reason for the class ten students could be the exam pressure. Out of the kids, those who were supposed to travel by school bus were busy in searching for their route bus, and those who were supposed to be picked up by their parents were all set to reach their respective vehicles.

First time to my knowledge and surprise, there was a clear difference in the enthusiasm on their faces to travel back home. The bus travelers imaged themselves as if they still had some school-time left before reaching home. I was damn sure looking at their tenure that they were all fit with the idea of having fun with their mates in the bus on their way back from school. They knew they would be still enjoyed it despite the otherwise boring traffic jams. The kids to be taken by their parents, on the other hand, were showing low enthusiasm to sit in the cars or on the bikes of their fathers/mothers. Not that they were not having interest in going back but they were for sure appeared missing something that the children whose parents could not or did not afford their own two/four wheeler.

The reason why mentioned “did not” in the above last is as follows. In fact there could be multiple reasons for the same. Some parents might not be available to bring their children home as they were stuck with work or equivalent. Some might have calculated the economics of bus-traveling vs. the to-be-picked up by own vehicles. Some might have their neighbor’s kids who were elder then their own to accompany safely. Every reason has it’s own backup!

Well, I admire those, who could or could not have afforded it, but still did not with the thinking that they wanted their children to be the part of the enjoyment traveling with their friends. This is just one small example of what’s happening with the new age kids.

It’s the age of the kids, I mean the schooling, the sweetest and the most memorable, very few disagree with this and that too based on their own unique experiences.

** With all the revised syllabuses, upgraded discipline norms, students spending time with each other, connecting emotionally with each other, is next to impossible if I have to be frank.

** They would need a physical education hour a day which too bundle them up with the discipline for which most of the physical education trainers in schools are famous for.

** The upraising interest in parents to prepare their children to the extra-curricular activities such as painting, drawing, dancing, singing etc is doing it’s part in activating the brains of children and let them know that they can actually do more than just reading the syllabus. Its good sign that some schools are mandating some extra activities, reason might have been the commercial gain but nevertheless parents pay it and children are uplifted in spirits.

** Apart from all that children do together in school they need to spend some quality time outside the school as well with their friends or with more or less equal-aged. This is most important for the children of the metros, big cities compared to the children of small towns, who anyway connect together easily, as the scenario in cities is becoming tougher to do so day by day.

** They shall be exposed to all the varieties of ongoing cultural changes in the society, in the cities etc. They shall be sent out along with their friends on their picnics once in a while to roam around but only after making them aware of how careful they need to be. Parents shall also be not too much protective of their children.

** First of all parents shall be stronger to send the kids out. Some parents don’t even let the kids to fall down but they want the kids to learn running! How come! Kids catch illness easily, but some parents just can’t let any illness to occupy their kids with their over precaution measure. Kids need to be made aware how to fight it out instead. This really helps them.

** With the apartment raising across, for the children of metros its not easy to catch up with their schoolmates who probably stay in all different corners. That does not end the story. There shall be good communication maintained by parents/elders among the apartment residents, which in turn produce the same enthusiasm and culture in younger generation to follow.

Shutting the doors and sitting inside watching the high definition TV or making kids watch the cartoon channels with a separate wide inch TV in their rooms will only add up the remaining hurdles to their mental growth.

Outdoor games are equally important as that of the video games. This awareness was not there in the previous generation kids right from their birth. It was well incepted by their parents or society or for that matter the unavailability of video games was the main reason. These days with the higher availability of video games compared to the play grounds to play, there is no surprise that children confine themselves to the best possible varieties of the digital shows! This must be considered seriously. I appreciate the way the housing societies develop the parks around. If the outdoor games also could be promoted the same way, there will not be any dying need to approach jims both for children or elders.

The necessary resources need to be taken to the knowledge of kids and their needs shall be addressed not just with love but with also with a mere responsibility too. With the busy schedules of these days its not so possible to concentrate on these, but after all, being parents is also important amidst the pressures to bring up the today’s kids to the tomorrow’s citizens.

I used to wonder why message oriented movies fail. Fail from the sense of conveying the message they are made to convey for. Given a bit of thinking into it I got to know something. I just wanted to share what I thought on couple of stories involving love, education and child marriages. Read on.

Music and journey…

A good book turns an otherwise bad journey average. Journeying through life alone is of course experienced day in day out by each one of us, but when it comes to journeying alone by bus, train or plane, all it feels is like having something to get entertained with. Choice of many used to be a good book supporting the first line of this post. It seems changing times have changed this pattern too!

Mp3 players have rocked in already. The innovative mobile phones with extremely good music quality have been touched by many hands in the mobile showrooms. Mobiles have become so cheap in the last one and half year and as the online review websites for the same come creeping in, all it takes is few minutes of time spending in the shopping mall and browsing in the side window of the internet explorer to the so called often visited Facebook window.

Purchasing a mobile phone is the one thing forgotten so easily with the ease with which one can get aquatinted with the new phone though it does consist brand new features. And the music downloads, as easy as opening the google webpage!

Get in to the bus/train, set yourself for a couple of minutes, put the ear phones in ears satisfying the name given to them, and then enjoy the music; its been the routine most of us undergo. In my case, as I travel by bus to office in the morning or on my way back to home from office, I’m fully on with the music. Only when the charge in my music player was down completely and I had to switch it off, that’s when the real pain of a longing traffic jam I was in started irritating me.

Well, it is advised to use the ear phones for less duration. By saying this I’m advising and equally taking the advice too.

Books are always healthy but the restlessness book-reading causes to the eyes especially in the bus journey on the roads with frequent depths makes one lose half energy then and there itself. It affects more when on a way to office or college. This is the same reason why I shifted my whole interest on to music during a journey. All may or may not have same reasons, but journeying with music relaxes one to a greater extent.

Old wine in new bottle feels good is what I’ve heard. But what happened with the Pakistani cricketers in the spot-fixing allegations couldn’t make me feel good though the fixing, like an old wine, is nothing new to the betting world and the jail sentence, like new bottle, is brand new of it’s kind for the cricketing world.

First and the foremost, what if it would have been had the allegations been on cricketers from Australia or India? Would CA or BCCI have left their players to the English judge without lobbying considerably? I seriously doubt!

Ok, Jail Sentence for Pak Cricketers has been welcomed by many former players. Appreciations to the people involved in this have been popping up across all social networking sides and media. What’s been killing me is, what about Bob Woolmer's suspicious death during the 2007 world cup in Jamaica? None cared to bring the truth out then. No one was dared enough to speak out, not even a single word in support to the murder allegations after the first post mortem! No judiciary or a police department of the world could take up the case. And now, in spot fixing case, people have been trying to prove that they too have GUTS!!! Rubbish..!!

Friends, remember my words; this Jail Sentence verdict will not be making as much difference as people have been hoping and quoting to the news papers and news channels. Where there is a will there is a way. This not just applies for the people who want to stop the fixing but also is applicable to those who create it all.

Justice is equal under law; GREAT quote!! But as long as money and fear dominate, nothing is believably justified and NO EQUAL LAW for ALL!!

Unless a squad which can get into serious enquiry of the underworld market would be launched, no judiciary can do much otherwise its a case as small as few no-balls. Players shall approach the officials of their countries in case of any pressures from the fixers. Of course, there could be the corrupted in the board itself. That’s the important place to keep clean first of all. That’s why its always true, as the king so the people!

Few words for the Pak cricketers who have been sent to jail, I’m not much concerned about Butt and Asif, but Amir shall be given a chance to resume himself and his game. He is a good player. At 19, he proved a lot. He deserves a second chance for sure. I hope he retains his confidence.

Last but one and the last… Day 13-14 @ Holiday

Last but one day and the last day of any holiday trip are the two days I never want them to come but they do come. It is one of the inevitable happenings.

My heart filled with the feeling that I’ll be leaving behind so much of fun. Its true too, but, again, you can’t help it always. I’ve had a memorable holiday trip, especially this time, meeting so many relatives, family friends, and friends. Had I not got my stomach upset I would have chewed the pleasure more. Unfortunately it was out of my control. Or may not, it was, but I could not grab it. Anyway, still its one of the most satisfying long break from work.

After a long time of five years I met one of my friends. She is married and settled in Hyderabad. After seeing her, the way she has been maintaining her house, some crazy memories of our graduation days flashed in my mind! How childish we were then! How lazy! Oops, life teaches many lessons. Also, it makes us do what we are supposed to do. Not everyone feels satisfied with all, but still life is undoubtedly beautiful. We started remembering our old friends, good olden days, lab mishaps, New Year bashes, movie trips, exam blues etc and time ran faster than anything. We had very good time! I felt happy with myself that I could make it to her house at least this time round.

Luggage packing is one of the happiest things to do while going on a holiday. While returning back, nothing else could be more boring and annoying. Be it for five days or for fifteen days, holiday is a holiday and the last day of the holiday is never liked. I had to search for my things in the big house, which also got affected with the relative rides on the eves of Marriage and Diwali. Finally, I could pack everything except the tooth-brush. I’m very sure; this is the one item that’s forgotten the most by many!

Bidding farewell is anyway a tough job and if it is to be done after having so much of fun, it hurts more. When Pinni and Babai waves bye for me, I remembered the way my mom, dad and grand dad use to wave it for me every time I start from home after holidays.

Only after getting into the train I realized that the other ticket I forgot to cancel was also booked in the ladies quota as well as the one I was currently traveling in. Berth number 4 and 5 of the ladies reservation quota; one was from my hometown and the other from Hyderabad. I was little upset that I didn’t cancel it in time. But, to my surprise, it turns so satisfying at the end of the journey. There was a girl traveled with me with no reservation. I told her that the vacant berth was mine and she could take it. You can not give 250 Rs to a girl who is working and make her feel happy. With that extra ticket I forgot to cancel I could give her sound sleep for a night and lot of peace to her heart. That was one of the satisfactorily done journeys I had been through.

Happiness and satisfaction stays within us, within our thinking, nothing is beyond!

Finally, back in Pune! Back to work! This post ends my holiday postings. I will return with my regular writings soon.

Ghee, Seventh Sense and Mobile shopping… Day 12 @ Holiday

I too got surprised I slept so long. Next day morning I didn’t see the sunrise, I surprised my Pinni too with this. May be that was the first and last sign of the Diwali late night sleeping.

Since childhood if I haven’t lost craziness on any food item, it’s the ‘Ghee’, solid one not the liquid. I can pretty clearly tell you, during this holiday trip I ate home made Ghee on behalf of many people including me who has not been able to get it since years. My grand mom used to cook it for me during my childhood. I love the most is the reddened part of the Ghee that lies underneath the while layer. Pinni asked me to take a bottle of Ghee with me to Pune. I said ‘No’ as I was more than sure that I wouldn’t be able to control myself from eating it in a disorderly manner.

“Seventh Sense” was the new released movie for the Diwali. After having lunch with one of my all time favorite curry, Brinjal fry, Yamini, her husband and I went to watch the movie. Both of them told me that it would be difficult to get the tickets for the new release. I think I was used to the Pune ticket getting mania and said very confidently that we will get them. Hyderabad is no Pune to have less number of Telugu audience. They were right, it was already houseful. As far as I remember it, it was first time for me to go to a theater and not getting the tickets. Another experience!

Mobile shopping is a big task provided you have your selected model list ready. It seems touch screen is the only item that mobile companies have been concentrating upon. Good that these days both touch and keypad models are available too. Somehow touch screen does not interest me. Simply, I’d no idea where to touch when the screen is completely black. Recently I came to know that there stays a button on the side pressing which we get the screen illuminated. It was somewhat relief for me from my no-go strategy for the touch screens. Next time, I’ll try if I can get good one.

Having lost the phone in an odd way I got depressed deeply to buy a new and costly mobile. Now I’m waiting my phone to catch problem. May be, that’s why, one should not get influenced by the emotions while taking decisions!

For me, going to a movie and returning back without watching it is like a big disaster. I was disappointed. Anyway, I could spend some private time with the new couple. People normally like to keep the new couple alone. I have different interest. I like to stay with them, observe them, for all the new emotions they undergo, for the way they establish the comfort feeling between themselves. Of course that discomforts them too, you know what, you can’t always help it.

Diwali and the crackers… Day 11 @ Holiday

Diwali day’s wee hours make us realize the upcoming night’s extravaganza. In Hyderabad, it started early in the morning itself on the day of Diwali. Kids, of course, started it off a day before, but the real presence of Diwali was experienced in all the loud soundings the crackers made.

If anything makes us sad on the eve of Diwali I believe the prices of the crackers complete strong for the first place. I remember mentioning the same in one of my older posts, that during my childhood I along with my father used to get a bagful of crackers for just 100/-. Now-a-days, Rs 100 seems just nothing! Ask me if the shop keeper don’t take much time to sat “That’s it for 100 Rs” while filling your bag with crackers.

I enjoyed this Diwali with my family members. Also, the new joiners of the family, the relatives of the bridegroom, mingled well with us. Though you know people right before marriage, marriage is a marriage and it always establishes special bonds.

I never lit so many varieties of crackers in any Diwali expect the one three years back. This time, its all very new. We had to struggle where exactly to light some of the crackers. Golden flower pot was one of my favorites for the day! Babai told me they bought it from one small boy selling on the road side outside of the crackers’ market. Unfortunately I couldn’t take a snap of them; I remember in my eyes, and I will for long times.

Kids are sensitive. Though I knew it I unknowingly did hurt my sister’s daughter. She cried and my heart loosened. Pampering kids back on track is a job not just a mother but only few skilled people can do. Somehow she was brought into normal routine soon, my goodness, it was relaxing to me.

I equally like cooking and catering. The former starts the job and the later ends. Praise is good, be it in any form. It inspires. One of my relatives praised me for the job I was doing as part of catering, I was happy.

Deep pleasure does make you forget the otherwise hurting physical pains of the body. I experienced the same that day. I overcame many on seeing my family, relatives and of course the crackers as well.

It was a good day spent all in all. I will remember it for long. Hope you all too had a memorable Diwali. Belated wishes to you all.

Buy 2-Get 3, Diwali cleaning, TV serials… Day 10 @ Holiday

Ladies and shopping, you need not think more, they just go hand in hand every time anywhere. As the shopping malls have started brand new competition with the offers they do provide during festival season of Dussera-Diwali, none can be the one to stop ladies from buying the two sarees with which come free the other two. Buy 2 – get 2, slogan fills the walls of big malls. To my surprise, there were offers on men dressing too. Somehow for the first time I came across a “buy 2- get 3” on men shirting! Who says only women do “free-shopping”?

Day before Diwali was a big hit with the new couple arriving bride’s home. Welcoming them happened so simply. No big bash. I planned and executed some naughty deeds. Can’t explain here, but, its full of (sadistic) pleasure to tease the new pair. Everyone has to go through it. Yamini told me she would not leave me either on her day. I said, let’s see!

I slept long in the morning after many days. It felt so refreshing. Diwali was awaited and the relatives along with.

I got too much addictive to the TV serials of Colors and SONY even though it was just two weeks I started following them up. I realized it when I could watch the missed parts in You Tube thought it was late night already.

Cleaning house after such a big occasion like marriage itself is a big task. When the Indians’ favorite festival, Diwali, follows the marriage, you have to make home once again all settled, that’s the task difficulty immeasurable. I witnessed my Pinni handling it. She did it well. Now a days, you have to be ready to pay, you can fly to moon.

Cricket, cooking, after-marriage… Day 9 @ Holiday

Cricket never leaves me alone. Amidst all the after-marriage workouts, Team India’s rocking performance with four consecutive wins over the English team which outperformed our guys a month back in their backyard, lifted all of ours spirits. Well done Team India. Well done young players. When future appears perfect, present day feels far better.

Throat infection affected me in the mid-night but by the time I woke up I was not too suffering as expected. It felt happy and proud to have fought it out throughout the night. Body over-heat was the culprit for everything. Weather in Hyderabad is completely different from that of Pune. Adjusting well amidst the marriage arrangements was not easy!

I like cooking. I love trying new items. My Pinni (Yamini’s mom) is an expert. I learnt some of my favorite dishes. I will have to try them out once I’m back in Pune. Self made food many times tastes good no matter how it actually tastes. First time ever I made Maggie of such a small quantity for my sister’s daughter. I wondered if it would be sufficient or not for her, but it did suffice. I pity my stomach. It always asks for more!

Just after marriage, girl of a home becomes lady of another. Responsibilities come creeping in but people give time to the bride, at least for some days at the start. Bride is given all attention except freedom to move here and there. New relations fill life. New people, new adjustments and all new formalities not exactly paralyze but definitely do dramatize the moments. With time everything becomes normal. Small things too do matter; unknown people too do impact. That’s when the new life begins. That’s how the hopes of the days before marriage start getting realized.

I wish the new couple a happy married life.

I admire my Babai for the way he gives his best for the work he wants to do. He wanted to curtain the windows of one of the rooms in the house. Starting from buying the curtains to fixing them up, he did with same interest and passion. That’s when I found a similarity between my dad and Babai (dad’s younger brother). My dad is equally passionate of such which he desperately wants to do. All it takes is a bit of dedication and huge concentration; being passionate the rest will be done. I think I’m with the same jeans too!

Well, days in the long holiday have been running out. I’m yet to meet my friends in Hyderabad. I will have to plan. Let me see.

No Sound Sleep… Day 8 @ Holiday

Curd rice did it’s job it seemed. I was fine the next day morning, though not fit. Stomach upset takes out more than half of your energy! Early in the morning we were still at the Mandap. It was the last phase of the marriage, sending the bride, my cousin, to her in-laws house. It was not a big ritual our side, still the feeling of leaving something but most loving thing behind kills the bride at the time she leaves. As Yamini started rolling her tears out, we were all silent and just waited to see her calming down. You have to go ahead, it does not stop!

I desperately wanted to have my breakfast but had to get ready to attend Vratam the next day morning. I took my time; I had my sleep for long time. Not even my mom waken me up next morning. I couldn’t have a sound sleep but I had my bit in the wee hours. That set the situation of my health.

Puja (Nomu) was full of stories said by the Pandit Ji. I couldn’t listen to it. I just passed the time throughout. I kept wondering, how come this Pandit Ji remembered so much! May be, he is used to was the best answer I chose to answer myself.

Mom encouraged me enough to have my lunch with the items. I was not still very fine, but then I had to take food properly to check it out if I was really ok!

Relative started leaving the house after the Puja. The arrangements for the return journey were made by all more effectively than that of the arrangements done for the arrival. All disappeared just in a flash. I realized, this is it, modern day marriage. I definitely don’t like it but no one has a choice. After all, busy lives keep dominating you. When you can’t help it better leave it.

My parents, always systematic and punctual, also booked their tickets for their return journey. Mom asked me many times to come home with her as my health was not ok, but I wanted to stay back in Hyderabad, that was my answer. That was the first time I wanted the bus my parents had to catch to be late, but it was on time and further to that it reached the destination earlier to the expected time!

I felt I was the unluckiest and the weakest that day night. I was once again down with the cold and throat infection. I can’t explain that night’s position of mine to anyone. At one point of time at the mid night I wanted to start back to my home town! I believed I was potent enough to deal it out. I just let everything go away and could have sound sleep later.

When we are obsessed with work we keep hearing the voices of people around us as if they are still there. More than a disturbed sleep it was the incomplete one.

Marriage-Day Blues… Day 7 @ Holiday

Marriage blues welcomed all of us back into action on the day of the marriage. ‘Band’ batch early in the morning cleared out everything in the ears. “Toranalu” and the decoration done for the house stand high of all.

Everyone was up with the charismatic rituals and I was down with motions! I waited so long for the day and the happenings; suddenly I had to take back seat. It was such a disappointing thing that I would not forget to have good food and take rest before any big event in future. More than the stomach upset itself the disappointment half killed me.

Marriage day is celebrated with many rituals followed. I too got to know the clear picture just on the day of the marriage.

Making up kids is the toughest task for any mother. We had almost ten kids in the house. Their mothers had to keep things straight with them for making them agree to wear the new dresses they selected for the marriage. Three of the kids wanted the same ornament; you have to understand, amidst the peak leveled gold prices how come its possible! Compromising kids is the best job that a mother can do. Kids were handled so soothingly, I learnt many things.

Receiving guests was the job I wanted to perform at the function hall. As I was down, I couldn’t make it large! I was the last person from our house to enter the function hall along with my mom. Mom stays with you, no matter what. When sick, only mom can handle it.

Its pretty clear from my cousin’s eyes, having best relatives around, childhood friends attended, long lost friends gathered all again, it feels more than awesome to get married.

Menu is the most talked of any marriage among the crowd; of course, the wedding saree always takes the air out in women chitchat. However, food items have started to dominate all. When the number of guests exceeds the estimate, it would be a mess. You know what, this was the first marriage ever in which I just took curd rice! That too with a fear back in mind of the after effects.

Photo taking will be an art at marriage. As the relatives stared to leave the function hall after the dinner, late night marriage kills the intensions to stay back late night, it was difficult for us to cover people up in the photos. I took a chance and started to roam around though my body was not in my definite control. Even I was happy with myself for the decision I had taken, to roam around and say hi to the guests, the best of all I did that day.

For the bride and the groom there was no enough time even to check the Mandap and it’s decoration. They got attacked with their own tensions. But once adjusted on the stage, they enjoyed it their best. With the kids and the relatives around, the day has become the most memorable one of their lives.

Mehandi, Malls and the traffic… Day 6 @ Holiday

If marriage is all about two families, marriage extravaganza is all about relatives wandering full house. Relatives started coming in just a day before the wedding night, didn’t seem quite enough for me, but it was all as expected. Busyness kills many rituals/interests. We are quite used to accepting it now-a-days. Not good but ok.

Yamini and I received two special guests early in the morning, Yamini’s close friend and my mom. I admire my mom for the way she makes just forget that she has just arrived in. She enters straight into the household work as if she stayed there since long. It does not even appear taking someone’s work, it just appears quite normal and I love her for it especially.

‘Mehandi’ is a full day celebration in the northern India but not yet in the southern side. Hyderabad is a city known for mixed culture. A ‘Mehandi’ function was planned but the reopening of schools and colleges ruined it! We all wished ‘Telangana’ moment stayed for another 4 days, till just after the marriage. Selfish but again, ok. Anyway, function is just a cover up where as sitting together and enjoying the Mehandi moment is the morning feet we did.

Shopping malls are coming up with new and aromatic offers. 3 sarees in just Rs. 500, 3 shirts for 666 Rs are two of the oceanic creative thoughts the business minds delivered. I realized shopping shoes for kids is not an easy job too with the moms expecting every next shop to have even better ones than that of the shop they are in now.

Busy Hyderabad roads made it difficult for us to cross. Fortunately the one way traffic simplified it. As the automobiles on roads resemble the ants, people who want to cross the road are not just free enough to look straight. Night time no estimation of the upcoming traffic speed never allow anything to help people out, but somehow people manage it though there are no zebra crossings.

Our house was slowly packed up with the luggage of people. Space to sleep was to be found out hardly. A compromise never seemed as compromise when some of us restricted ourselves to the floor and a blanket. With kids, this becomes messed up, as they can be hardly watched out in night time to roam around.

Not just the bride and groom but even you, being the attendee, can never have a sound sleep the night before the wedding unless you are extremely lucky to get it so or your hormones are extremely good in helping you so.

Probably, the way many posts have been posted together shows the busyness a marriage brings in, or may not exactly so, reason could be something worst than that too! Read on.

Organizing a marriage calls much effort. Involvement of too many people makes things worsen sometimes. A close and small circle of friends/relatives make it better place, not just to carry on but also to enjoy every moment of organizing it. But when it comes to enjoying it, a huge circle of people will be well needed.

As I mentioned in one of my previous posts gold rates have been touching the skies. No matter what the love towards it remains the same for ladies. Once again, ‘necessity is the mother of invention’ is proven with the 1 gram gold ornaments creeping into the market. They almost captured the higher market share than expected. I would not mind saying, in future the market share may go further high so as the profit margin. Gold ornaments are confused with their clones. Gold do carry the value, but look wise and to serve the day people go for it without hesitating. Especially the moms of small kids go crazy for them. Earlier when it was gold out there these moms worried like anything, but now they are the cool moms with absolutely no tension as their kids wearing the ornaments just look like gold but actually not, with which kids can play anywhere, can roam around freely.

I love to shop anything except footwear. I feel like having very less options to look at! Sometimes medium heal do interest me, sometimes no heal. Sometimes full front covering sandals are liked by me, sometimes just tiny straps. I get usually bored of single sandal usage for long. I do believe it happens, with girls. First this people identify at our flat in Pune is the number of sandals we do park in front of the door, which do disguise the number of inmates, if just three or thirty! Coming back to the shopping of sandals, I loved it when I did it along with Yamini at Hyderabad. Too many models and just one brain to choose! Not an easy job, but could do it finally.

There ended the Day 5 of my holiday.

Not just sarees are shopped… Day 4 @ Holiday

The beauty of any south Indian marriage undoubtedly unveils itself in the form of marriage-cloths, especially sarees for the bride. Recent days’ gold prices make people take it granted that they are untouchables unless otherwise needed with no choice. Hence cloths have taken front seat in showcasing the richness.

Gold is gold, however, for the time being love towards it is just not enough in making people go for it.

The ‘designer saree’, by their name itself, have been attracting people. No one knows who the designer is, could be the one at the end of the road or the one whose location is geographically unknown or strategically invisible. Well, anyway, they keep their look maintained, far better than each other.

The saree we select is the one ‘the most’ beautiful. Right or not, though no doubt, this confidence makes us put the full-stop to the thirsty search. By the way, not just sarees are shopped but the happiness too.

Prices of the sarees have gone surprisingly up in the recent months. Expecting discounts on marriage clothing is quite common but the indigestible fact hidden behind is the profit margin the shop-keepers comfortably hold back.

If sarees make wedding colorful relatives make home so. The never ending tasks lay back to back make the hosts experience their childhood all again, when mom asked to bring 3 items from the market and the child couldn’t just recollect the their item! Its not an easy task and this way of saying is nothing actually speaking.

Richness can not kill the generosity people have; smiles bring lot of positive emotions in to the room. I reconfirmed it yesterday after inviting few people to the wedding. They’ve got an extremely big and beautiful house I’ve ever seen, they appeared well rich, but their manners and the interest they did show in receiving us amazed me. In life, if we can be so, we have to be down to earth, no matter what! I’m done with my learning.

Time can be made, but definitely not amidst the marriage arrangements. I don’t believe in it fully, but I agree to a greater extent. You can’t help it, you just can’t unless well planned.

As I said in my previous post here are some tips for you on distributing wedding cards from this little immature mind!

** List down the people to be invited in accordance with their living area and their available timings. Take time in doing so, its worth doing.

** Plan the route properly as per the geographical locations of invitees to avoid crossing the same traffic twice.

** Always keep enough number of cards with you while distributing them. There is a high chance of running out of cards though the route to be covered is still long.

** Keep target to the time to be spent at every relative’s house and be extra conscious to follow the same. But never be over conscious; take care of the deserving people.

** Always its better to write the name of the invitee on the cards after confirming it properly. It should not happen that we search for the invitee with the name that is mistakenly written on the card.

** In case of power cut and the invitee stays in top floors with numbers more than or equal to 4, better give them a call and confirm their presence. If not available hand it over to the concerned. Understanding of people in this regards has been improved a lot.

** A phone call invite shall be good enough with the invitee staying far away. Again, this understanding is improved a lot from the invitees’ side, but some of the cultures of the hosts won’t let them do so!

** Towards the end as the number of cards come down, be choosy of the invitees who should get the card as it is.

No dog bites so far… Day 3 @ Holiday

Literally I said to myself after today’s session of distributing wedding cards “Hufff…finally, I’m done for the day without suffering a single dog bite”.

Most of the houses we visited today were being protected by the dogs, some were milky white doggies where as the others were more than just dogs and nothing less than serious cops. Before enquiring for the people if they are there in the house or not we enquired a lot to know the existence of dog cop in houses. While opening a house’s main door appeared risky, people inside covered it up with their warm welcome.

I’m missing the TV serials, but never mind, there is nothing much in it except the showcase of innumerable camera angles of emotions and actors. Watching a serial twice, for that matter even once a week, suffices the purpose of knowing the story line. Well anyway, we have our favorite ‘You tube’ to ride on any moment.

We saw a new born baby. He is just a day old. Seeing his whole family excited about his birth is the scene of the day!

While we were taking turn a biker suddenly appeared in front of our vehicle with the speedometer needle of the bike he was driving touching almost 75-80 kms. Not just that, he was driving on triplet. Whatever the care parents do take of their children how much time it takes for a child to spoil his own life along with his parents, for whom he himself is their life? If any of you reading this belong to such category of drivers please do take care of yourselves. Your parents and loved ones await you at home everyday. Do as much as you can to make their wait worthy.

Cards Distribution, the toughest task? … Day 2 @ Holiday

I heard many times people calling the task of distributing the wedding cards as the toughest part of organizing a marriage. I never believed them and there was a reason behind it. My mom used to go to invite people. She is very lean but still is called many times seeing which I never got any point supporting what people said. Its not and never about lean or stout, such things can be done by those who has patience, cultural awareness, interest and most importantly energy.

This time round replacing my mom is what I’m being through. Mom is busy with work and I got a chance, in fact I took a chance and I hope you are getting that I’m stressing it!

It was consecutively second day we had been to many relatives’ and friends’ houses. It was in the evening. As I saw the TV at one home suddenly I got a wake up call about today’s cricket match. I saw a not-so-decent first innings score by England and thought India would be through unless they fire their own tail. Then started my match-watching program, in bits and pieces though. We and Indian players had been going around houses and stumps respectively. I don’t think either me or anyone have ever watched one cricket match in so many TVs! At most of the places we had been to, there was the TV and the cricket channel up! Who said over cricket bores? It bores just cricketers themselves and none!

One more interesting observation I’ve to share here. It was in the evening or early night we started to distribute the cares, the same time when many started to cook food for dinner. I smelled many curries, believe me, mouth-watering phrase can never explain you how it feels!

I visited my Pinni’s ma’s house, my grand mom’s. She is into her late sixties. Every time I go to their house I find one thing never changed, it’s the way she organize her house. She is just too good in it and I admire her the most for the same reason. My mom is no exception too but still looking at the age of grand mom its always a real big lesson for me and mine likes.

This is how it’s been today. Now I realize what makes it complete is this post. To many I said earlier, that when I want to write something I worry about nothing other than a good internet connection. Here is the proof post coming for all of you from me at exactly 1:29 AM.

Long day Straightaway… Day1@ Holiday

When day one on a vacation goes pleasingly long you get relieved from all the killer thinking you’d been putting into on how to keep your vacation productive in terms of rich moments. This is what I’d been through yesterday, the first day of my first long vacation after joining the job. Also, its on the occasion of one of my very close cousins’, Yamini, marriage.

I almost feel home here, at Hyderabad. The best part of all is that i could get a chance to meet my parents yesterday, they had com attend a marriage, or otherwise I would have been dying to see them by now.

Being the first guest to a home that’s filled with the joys of a marriage is a thrill. When my Babai (Yamini’s dad) said the same to me yesterday while I was entering the home I felt honored and loved so much. I had been waiting for these days to come since long and here I’m.

I addressed myself as a guest but I really don’t feel so here. This home and more than anything my family keeps me busy in forgetting that this is not my home! This is the same reason I chose to give my best participation ever in a marriage. As a part of it we visited many relatives housed yesterday to invite them to the marriage and distribute the wedding cards.

Some of the very precious moments I gained yesterday are below.

** Adding the term “Garu” (‘ji’ in Hindi), as a respectfulness after the name of the person to whom we give the card makes me realize, no matter how close, when it comes to the invitations the culture captures us with all hands. I felt a bit at the start but soon I swallowed.

** Smiles on the faces and the warm welcome of the relatives I saw ages before or I met first time keep me refreshed of this memory for long time from now.

** I accompanied my Pinni (Yamini’s mom) and she made me go surprise, its so little expressive word to use here, with her enthusiasm and cultural abideness in inviting the relatives despite all the physical pain she had been feeling with her body. I said to myself, that’s called inviting.

** Some homes had dogs tied outside. One of the dogs was tied with the weakest rope I’ve ever seen. The size of the dog was no small too. On seeing us it tired it’s heartout to get itself out of the rope, I wondered what if it would succeed! I didn’t try to imagine our position, may be running back our heartout with the wedding cards in one hand and the heart in other, as it appeared quite unimaginable for the situation then. For that moment I just hoped it to stay back.

** We went to invite some of our relatives whose children left them back in India and are abroad. It was the most painful moment when they said that they had been missing their children and grand children. This line reverberated in my emotional mind “Parents do remember their children though the children do or don’t”. I never get whom to point out, the children who leave everything including their parents behind and stay ling distant or the parents who first send their children abroad, inform happily everyone that their kids are in US or ‘States’, at late age start missing them very much. This story is different from family to family, better leave it open.

** A small baby, she appeared she’d just leant to walk, came to me, tried to take the pen in my hand with all the innocent smiles on her face. I tempted and gave it though I knew she might write on the wedding cards. You can’t help it when a baby’s small hands and beautiful smiles make you go corrupt.

Well, these are some of them. I’ll be keep posting my experiences, lively moments to come in days. I’m awaiting my whole family here.

In ladies' language, marriage is one occasion she never wants to miss on all the new clothing and the jewelry others bought. In gents’ language, marriage is one occasion he never wants to miss on the opportunity to contribute to make it's greatness and richness talked all across.

Not that who say it out are straightforward and who don’t are not. Every single word said out given certain thinking, patience, concern, and most importantly understanding, to it, its the straightforwardness I believe in. In contrary, though people have many reasons to call themselves as straightforward, the so called “Straightforwardness” can never cover up the bluntness behind.

To those, for whom this attitude is out of reach, none appear straightforward except themselves and those who resemble their own clone (mentally) .

Author: Chetan Bhagat

My long awaited read is done. I pre-ordered. Thanks to Flipkart’s delivery. A day off from work is proven worthy by the Chetan Bhagat’s new release.

It appeared different from his other books, not entirely though. The narration and the generalization on girls between the lines made it the best read as always. Story line, though made around two boys and one girl, definitely got it’s social touch. A deep impact of the editorials done in the national news papers by the author could be seen right through.

A triangular love story, doesn’t matter how old the concept is, makes you unmoved. Matured love could be seen, but only towards the last couple of pages! Nevertheless, it lingers. Sacrifice by the main character in the story, though not justified by the author himself, satisfied me given a bit of thinking further into it.

All in all, it was a good read. Its not usual for me not to switch on TV on a holiday, but I almost forgot that I was sitting right in front of the most entertaining medium. Breakfast and lunch got delayed. When in interesting times hunger seems nothing which otherwise would take the top most priority in distracting us from work!

PS: Definitely “The Steve Jobs’ Way” was into the pipeline, but only till I was without this new book. Once received all my attention got shifted in a flash, you know the result.

Girls @ Cloths matching centre

Two girls went to shop some matching cloths.

Having seen the long search of her friend, the other girl advised “Hey, don’t worry too much about the color matching. Boys won’t differentiate the colors anyway, and only few girls can come to you and appreciate your matching sense with full heart”.

Though her friend later said that she had been searching for herself but not for others, it doesn’t seem practical most of the times!

In continuation to my previous two posts...

Never thought that I would be reading the book, “The Steve Jobs Way” after Steve Jobs taking his last breathe on the earth. Steve Jobs, the man transformed the way we think and expect the electronic products to be. Being one of the very few famous innovators in the contemporary world, he could successfully market the Apple, though it appears already bitten.

Surviving the cancer for long, all the innovative products launched by Jobs have reached the hearts of the young generation in a missile speed. Being the man who stood differentiating the Apple from it’s competitors, he has been and would be a great inspiration for today’s generation and many to come, in terms of leadership especially.

In this book “The Steve Jobs Way”, written by the former senior vice president of Apple who reported to Jobs directly, I hope to know some interesting leadership skills showed by Jobs, with his team, without whom he would not have been the same.

May not be a perfect choice to read for the one who is yet to or about to start his professional life, but for the people who crossed some calendar years, some appraisal cycles in their corporate world, I promise an interesting read, as the real incidents you faced in your work life unveil themselves as you turn through the pages of this read just short of one hundred and fifty pages. One thing I couldn’t find in this book is if I can say ‘Boss’ boss is of more interest’!

The former CEO being the author of the book, the normalcy of a relatively younger employee just does not appear in most chapters of this book. The book makes us feel as if it is all written from a boss’ point of view, yet as long as the saying ‘boss is always right’ holds good, nothing bores and in return it awakens.

You may like to use this book as a reference to manage your professional life. You, especially if you are a man, may find the chapter on how to behave with the boss’ spouse more useful. All in all, it will be a good stress buster, as you will understand what’s happening with your daily professional life is just nothing different from any others’.

Had you anytime wondered on surviving the opposite sex, this is the best book I can ask you to refer to. I’m yet to read more books on this topic but somehow I find this book more useful on dealing the opposite sex. Of course, being a girl, the chapters on the women did interest me, but how can I hide the fact that the most interesting chapters were on the mentalities of the opposite sex! How do men and women behave in a given situation, for a given pain, is what the loveliest part of all.

My cousin Yamini explained me about this book. Before starting the book I wondered if how many time I would be required to refer to the dictionary! If it’s a novel, vocabulary doesn’t hurt or impact much. But since this book being the one on behaviour, the most important to understand, I worried. But the language is superbly simple.

You may find this book answering many of your asked/unasked queries so far. You may like to read the parts of this book explaining the women’s wave shaped behavior and the men’s rubber band’s like. Some of the perspectives from this book have already been proven useful to me. If you find yourself sleepy while reading it, you are on right track.
